The
ultimate origin of the company rests on 2 great men: Don Matías
Arjona-Goldbaum and his father, Don Matias Arjona-Machado.
First
: Don Matias Arjona-Goldbaum,(MAG) , was attending college
when his
father suggested to him to become a supplier for the
fishing industry. After some planning, MAG decided to follow
through. In 1956 , Agencia Arjona, SA de CV was born. But with
a lot of friends from Asia and USA who were acquainted with the
elder Arjona’s services .
Second:
Don Matías Arjona-Machado(MAM) , son of the
first Harbor Master that the Port of Guaymas, Sonora had , Capitán
Esteban Arjona , from whom he inherited his love for the sea.
Being able to carry out in Ensenada the first Ship Agency in
which , on top of receiving and dispatching ships, he was a provider
of good and services. He worked for Transportación Marítima
Mexicana many years and he was recognized as one of the most
reliable agents in the Ensenada’s harbor.
Six years later, as the business went in an spiral of growth
, MAG was joined by his brother, Don Ricardo Arjona-Goldbaum.
That was an alliance that for 30 years was an example of teamship
and great management. Still unsurpassed.
In our first
48 years we had good times and bad times. But those up and
downs have
increased the faith and confidence of
the management and employees in dealing fairly with customers
and suppliers, from México and abroad. The support from
our suppliers is reflected in the many quality companies that
we have added to our catalogue listings :

In November
1994, after the death of its founder,Don Matías
Arjona-Goldbaum,his son, LAE Matias G Arjona-Rydalch(MAR) , who
was groomed for the job, was named CEO and Chairman of the Board.
He has a BA in Business Administration, from the prestigious
Tec de Monterrey ( ITESM).
The new management was like an earthquake to a , back then,
38 years old venerable and successful business. With the tools
of modern management and a clear understanding of the challenges
in front of Agencia Arjona , the New Management set the tone
for a painful, but successful turnaround , that helped survive
NAFTA, the TUNA embargo and the exodus of the Tuna Industry.
Today, more that 10 years since the Management shake up, Agencia Arjona is
ready to tackle the globalization and the new way of doing business in a more
fierce and open market.
